heh, went for family chalet on saturday after rotting at home for the entire day
Saw 9 month old baby Kaelen, he weighs 11 kg sia. but i still dragged him to take picture with me :D

i noticed the stark contrast between the two earlier posts. haha, one is so cheery while the other is so.... dead.
LOL, bird just informed all of us term 3 is gonna packed like 10 sardine cans packed into ONE. so it is like, goodbye social life for term 3 already. hmmmm, bird boss might be reading this, so i shall not say more. HA!
AND YAY! my first big assignment is ongoing already! i am semi- in charge of JTS while mai is away! so HC ppl who are reading this and have those 'eureka!' ideas, plsplspls tell me or trudy k? thx.

i've got math tutorial & lecture later. oh frk it. =/ and thats not all! still have floorball clinic AFTER the lecture, which means i'm only gonna reach home around 5plus. ): damnit.............. oh well. IDK whats been going on in bern's life but it seems like he's very busy and also very popular now that he's in HC! hahaha. i have no idea what his post is. like, er... ex officio? sounds rather criminalish, LOL. hey no offence, dont roll your eyes at me =.= hahahaha. alrighty byebye!

16 th House Committee camp

I have left the 16^th House Committee camp with many experiences, both joyous and bitter ones, all from which I have learnt valuable lessons indelibly etched in my mind forever. Before I entered the camp, my mind was filled with dread and yet also anticipation with what was to come, will it be too physically straining for me? I also felt anticipation of what activities that I will be going through to prepare me for my very own term of HC office of which I have no prior experience of. Without much hesitation, at 5.55pm of 16^th May 2008, I picked up my bags and belongings with the rest of my fellow elects and strode over to the sports complex from canteen to start off my HC journey.
The first day, or rather night as most of the activities are held in the dark, was quite a challenge for me, not because I am scared of the dark or anything, but because I am an early sleeper and my body clock does not adjust easily. Moreover, before the walk started, I had the notion that I will be walking with the Beta 16^th HC members. Hence any reservations I had about the walk quickly melted away as I know I have the support and encouragement of my fellow elects. It was not surprising that when I heard about the new groups we were allocated into, with strangers from every house; my previous reservations came back as quickly as they were gone. I admit I was a bit apprehensive about the walk at first, what if a fellow elect is in trouble and I did not know their name or background? Many ‘what if’s flitted through my mind as I trudged the first few hundred meters of the walk. Gradually I felt very much at ease with the other elects as we walked and talked, the walk has opened me to the fact that I have to work with these people in the future and I got to talk to them and understand them. In a way, it forced me to adapt and also to let the reality of ‘I have to work with people, both old and new at some points in my life’ to sink in. The crux and biggest obstacle of that night was the approximately 9 km walk from Tampines back to the college. I thought I will not make it without stopping halfway but I eventually made it back to school and it was then I really realised that what the 15^th house committee has stressed from the start of the camp has really been true after all. It is all in our mind, we have to push our limits to show the best in us, we have to build our mental strength; we have to believe in ourselves.

The second day was the amazing race held in the east of Singapore. I have learnt a lot of lessons that day as well through the process of the race. Even though we failed to complete a task set for us by the 15^th HC, we were a bit distraught and disappointed but thanks to the seniors who helped us to conquer defeat and let us have a taste of it before we experience the same thing in our term, I believe this will enable us to get over future defeats easily and not wallow in self defeat for excessively long periods of time. It was also through the race I have learnt the value of ‘All for one and one for all’ which is a key part of the HC in all our future endeavours. I shall not elaborate on the activities as we really supported and helped each other. The camp cooking was another really enriching activity as we worked together and produced a sumptuous spread of food to call our own. It was the best food and the fruit if our labour, to me, the champion of the cooking contest might have gone to Delta, but I believe that Beta cooked the best food that night. (I am having diarrhoea these few days) I fell during the period of cooking but I did not feel the pain initially as my mind was only filled with the pressing issues of the camp cooking and I believe this was a display of my mental strength I have cultivated in this camp.

The night walk on the second night was immensely fun and I think the lessons I learnt are similar to the jungle walk. This time, I met a few members from the jungle walk as well.

The third day was the most chaotic day in my opinion, the morning started badly as the boys from Alpha and Gamma house was late for morning fall in. This was a folly that should not have happened and I could understand the anguish and anger felt by the seniors who have tirelessly preached the importance of urgency and punctuality throughout the camp, only to be disappointed by our actions on the last day. The punishment of the latecomers was well deserved and I felt immense guilt for not doing the punishment with them, owing to my leg injury. I felt sorry for my fellow elects on that morning, especially the elect who suffered breathing problems after the punishment. The morning run to East Coast Park was not something I can elaborate much about, but the walk there with my fellow injured elects showed me that I was not the worse off and as such I helped those in need more by holding on to our stock of water while the rest try to walk on at a faster pace.

The amazing race also shown me a different side of the 15^th HC members, yes the 15^th, this is not a typo error. I realised that even though the senior Beta HC members may not say a lot of things to us but I noticed that they, or rather you people, really care for us in many unspoken ways. You have stood there for us when we tasted the bitterness of defeat in the amazing race task. You have been there to covertly give us tips on how to start the fire for camp food successfully. You have also bought us water when we were out of it. You also let us off when it was clear we could not coordinate our suicide PT sprint successfully. In these many unspoken ways, you have become our guiding signposts and true to your word, you have passed on all the values we need for our HC term. You will forever be guardian angels to us ad we really appreciate it.
